Cheap Supermarket Lipstick

4 January 2013

Hello, I hope you all had a lovely New year! I spent mine in onesies with my parents, watching fireworks out the window and eating lots of sweets, it was perfect! Also a positive note, if you didn't already know, my dad has been fighting a hard battle with brain cancer, and he got his scan results back today, and his tumor has shrunk! I am so happy and proud of him, I think we are just going to have a family movie night tonight to 'celebrate' which will be lovely! I went into a shop called 'Aldi' today and my dad got some sauce he has been trying to find for ages, and I seen they had a make-up section. I didn't know what to expect and it was only £1.99 for a lipstick and I wanted to review it. I know you can get some products that are dupes or just as good as more expensive make-up and I wanted to have a look for myself.

The packaging itself does look cheap, and by looking at the outside packaging you can immediately tell that it's very inexpensive, but I didn't let the outside packaging decide how I felt about the actual lipstick.

It claims to leave lips 'soft and smooth while also preventing them from becoming dry and chapped' which I think is a perfect way to describe the lip product. When applied it does go on quite sheer, but after 2 or 3 coats it is very opaque. It has a slight shine to it, but nothing dramatic. It is very moisturizing  to me it felt like a coloured lip balm, I was pleased with that because I suffer really bad dry/chapped lips. The colour is really quite pretty too, a bright red, but as it's quite sheer it isn't very dramatic. I really liked how the lipstick looks out of the packaging, the metal looking effect makes it looks a lot more expensive than it was, and I think it looks really nice. The only downside is the lasting power, it doesn't last that long, about half an hour (eating/drinking), but I always have lipstick on me to reapply anyway. I am happy with this product and for £1.99 you can't really go wrong. I would like to buy the other colours in the collection, because I know they have about 6 other colours too. I recommend this lipstick to anybody that has an Aldi store near them.

  2. I really want to try this, the colour is lovely! I bought a nail varnish from Aldi and it actually wasn't bad quality at all for the price. I've also heard good things about their eyeliner, but it's never stocked in my local store!
